Of-the-Decade-Awards
Okay everyone. It is my extreme pleasure to create the Of-the-Decade-Awards. I'm actually somewhat nervous about this, because I'm worried I'll pick the wrong thing. But here it goes:
Videogame of the decade:
I'm agreeing with the Record (Waterloo's local paper(ON, CAN) on this one. Rockband 2 (and other Rockband products). Harmonix dominated the industry for the past year or two. It was kind of like that bully that can fend off the class midget (in this case, Guitar Hero) by sticking his hand on the midget's forehead as the midget futilely charges at him. Also, it has Lego Rockband, which has Kaiser Chiefs, which is explained below:
Band/ Musical Artist of the decade:
Kaiser Chiefs Several reasons, but several songs in particular: Boxing Champ, Ruby, and especially Retirement. Something I love about this band is that it makes its lyrics relate able. For instance Retirement is a song about, well, take a guess. This is something that I can relate to, as many people I know are retiring due to university politics
I'd like to mention Nine Inch Nails that came close for there song Capital G. what lost them this award was really their consistency (something like 2% of their songs are really good (I.M.H.O.).
Website of the decade
Take a guess.
Online game of the decade
Ohmygosh... Ladies and gentlemen, we have at tie! Oh, wait. Why am I surprised? I'm thinking these up! Anyways; two winners. First up: Endless war 3. Awesome gameplay, though basically a 2d flash version of CoD (Call of Duty). Still, CoD was amazing, so that doesn't really take away from this game. Great weapon selection, and it's a lot of fun how you can play an updated version of the previous 2. Moving on, we have Amateur Surgeon. Basically a funny, somewhat simplified version of trauma centre. Without the pentagram that makes you an awesome surgeon. Um... That's about it.
I would also like to mention Autofrag: Sumo. This game will always have a special spot in my heart. It was one of the online pioneers of combining 3dness with great gameplay, I've been playing it since I was 4 years old, and still love it. But being professional, I can't call this the game of the decade. It really brakes my heart, but it is, admittedly, not the best game out there. I'm not even sure that it was made in this decade. There.
Movie of the Decade
V for Vendetta. Hands down. Action, plot, politics, grey-area level character morality (basically; very interesting characters), and very good casting make this movie my favourite movie of all time.

Appleseed
Good movie. Nice plot. Enjoyable. Odd plot with nice twist, though at points it was cliche after cliche. Overall, a 7. I'd like to see a little less time admiring the architecture, and a little more time concentrating on the government and its actions.

Spoiler alert!
I'm going to say this here and now; I absolutely hate endings that make you think. I don't really know why. I generally like using imagination for just about anything. Now, some people I've talked to say that this may indicate a sequel. My problem is that all of the conflicts were resolved, and therefore there will be a random problem, and those generally don't work out so well (have you seen Shrek 3?). Anyways, back to reviewing. Plot- meh. It's been done. The Matrix films and whatnot. It isn't original, put it that way. The dreators have almost made a Matrix-random action/ adventure movie- hybrid. However, the strong point of the movie is the sights. In a way, it relates to 2012's shock factor with the great sights (just, in this case, it's floating mountains rather than the CN tower crashing down).
Indiana Jones And The Crystal Skull
Rating from 1-10, 2.8. You may think I'm really harsh with that mark, but my average is 5, not 8. This movie might make a good rental, but I wouldn't pay again for over $2.50 to see this only once. I'm surprised that since they have the makers had so much to live up to, they gave so little. That plot (I.M.H.O.) was worse than the show Punk'd. I guess the effects were pretty good...
Super Size Me
This movie review has been drastically changed from its original. Interesting guinea-pig science and how it covers the fast food industry (these are some of my favourite things (and, yes, I'm referring to the sound of music)) gets this movie an 8.21.
Prince Caspian
This movie didn't suck, but it wasn't too good. I mean, compared, it was a little bad, but if you haven't seen any good fantasy movies, this would be a hit. Some of the stuff you could see was kind of like cut 'n' paste from The Lord Of The Rings, some of the stuff was just corny, and others had flaws. That water-king-god guy wasn't really the right colour, and I had to plug my ears for some of the lines, but the rest was ok. I can't say I suggest this movie for people as young as what was suitable for the lion, witch and ward., not so much for violence but more because of a more sophisticated plot. I suggest this movie for historically advanced 9 year-olds, and anybody older. Overall, this movie gets a 4.3
Hellboy (movie)
You can't really enjoy this movie unless you like the comics. I loved the comics, so this movie got an 9.4 . Fine effects, fine plot, great character chemistry... The only thing I'd change about this is the particular makeup artist who did Liz Sherman's face (I don't know who the actress or makeup artist is). It wasn't done very well. But aside from that, it was a pretty good movie. And dukes to the person who did the makeup on Hellboy. How long did that take you? And if you're Paul B. (if that's how you spell your name) you're stoopid 'cause you liked the comics but not the movie!
The Dark Knight
I'll never doubt the batman movies again. After the pretty sucky ones I've seen, dis thing revolutionized my idea of batman. The other ones were pretty average, the oldies sucked, and this made my brain explode with awesomness. Whatever I rated Hellboy, 0.000000000000000000000000000001 less than that. So what would that be? Just a moment... Ah. 9.3999999999999999999999999999999 on a scale from 1-10. Just great
The Brothers' Grimm
The biggest eye-opener I've ever seen. It's like Shrek, only a lot more mature and fairly creepy. Some parts are just gross. If you know you often throw up, don't watch this. Out of ten, I'd rate this a 2.4 because it's really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really weird, and the beginning doesn't really connect until you think about it for a really long time.
Get Smart
Slapstick comedy. I prefer colbert or stewart just about anyday, but fun if you're really hyper at the moment and will laugh at anything. Actually, it's a if it's designed for that mood. I was in "the mood", and I almost crapped my pants. Say, 7.24
Mr. Bean's Holiday
Madagascar. Same description, same rating.
Hellboy II Rise Of The Golden Army
I didn't like this one as much as the last one. Nah. It was good, but I think that the first half was a little too gross. But at least, for the first time in my movie-watching area in life, the commercial made it look worse than it really was hard to believe, but true. I liked the fact that they paid more attention to detail in this one, like they put in little side things that don't just follow the characters being focused on, like a troll and a giant squid in the hall at the BPRD. But Abe's voice changed a little too much, and I thought Manny was dead? If you don't know what I mean, watch the first, but stick with it in the credits. So this movie got... a 9
Madagascar (movie)
Heheheheee. Funny for very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very 4 immature peoplez, like me (I still buy pez dispensers!). Plot, makes sense, easy to relate to, good for 7-8 year olds and parents, but not in between. Just doesn't work. Animation/ graphics were (was) good, but in places the characters had a little social moment and you just wanted to plug your ears. But it's kool. Overall, this movie got a 5.2
Sherlock Holmes
Primary problem; Holmes didn't stop international conspiracies, just murders and robbers. It was hollywoodized too much. Love interest is also hollywoodized. It needed a little bit more solve-it-yourself-iness too, as you have to be a professor of botany to figure it out.
V for Vendetta
I have nothing negative to say about this movie. Oh, wait, nix that, the bishop and torture scenes I thought kind of relied on a shock factor, which I find boring. That, and, after my kajilionbillionth time seeing it, the shock factor isn't there. So this game doesn't get a 10. But it's close.
As said in the awards, this movie is great because of its plot complexity, grey area character morality (meaning the do both good things and bad things), and political involvement. Plus, good ol' slash 'n' smash is always fun. In addition to that, Hugo Weaving is one of my favourite actors, and I like the guy who plays Gordon. Finally, I spy with my little eye; reincarnations of all the dead people pulling off their masks in the end. This movie gets... a 9.9966, which tops everything else on the site.
Video Games
inFAMOUS
Awesome game. Weird but cool plot, spectacular gameplay. Side missions eventually become very repetitive, which can obnoxious if you hate one particular type of side quest. But awesome. Comes close to Rockband 2 with a 9.6.
Paper Mario And The Thousand-Year Door.
A pretty good game, but it' a little bit tricky unless you use an online walkthrough. I like how the battles are turn based, and you get to do stuff even when it's not your turn. Sometimes, though, you make one mistake (you use an item, you don't upgrade your health, whatever) can ruin your whole game. That's happened to me several times. It's so annoying! But now I'm nearing the final boss, and I'm a little nervous. I hope I'll eventually be able to beat her (it's a wierd demon-woman thing. Much resemblance to my sister). Wish me luck!
Out of ten I'd rate this game a 6.2
Rock Band 2
I am going to start with this; it's a little unfair to rate because it has a totally different kind of thing. But it's fun. Could've done with some more... Well-known names, butit doesn't hurt it too much. Plus, you can get whatever you want online. Very close to a 10. 9.8... No, no, 9.922221. Ja (not a typo).
Madagascar
I'd recommend this game for young children from the age of 7-9, and a nearby experienced, willing gamer. This is for two reasons:
1. The 7-9-year-old would really like the game because of the movie
2. The nearby gamer would be good because sometimes this game can get ridiculously hard. Wow. I'm surprised I can spell ridiculously correctly.
One Word that best describes this game-cute
Rating for this game (1-10, in recommended circumstances, 5.3) . This game was really good, it but could've been longer.
Professor Fizzwizzle
If there's such thing as mind steroids, the guys who made this are on them, 'cause
holy mother of, this game is tough! My lord, I don't know how the guys who created it thought up half the levels, but MAN! This game is definetly worth buying, though only in particular age groups, like 5-8, 20+
With recommended age groups, this game is about 5.9 . The thing they could improve on is getting more easier but a little harder levels in. But it's definetly worth $22. Good if you have free time on the computer for a couple minutes
Spore
Fun, but it's repetitive. I mean, how many times are you doing something different? I count 3: omnivore carnivore and herbivore (did I spell those right?). Sure it's fun, but it gets boring. I'd rate this game a 6.
Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance
Super awesome plot. I love games that have choices in them that affect the rest of the game. Kool stategies. Awesome cinematics. It gets a... A... 10. Yup. The third ten I've ever given out. If you're wondering why I changed it so drastically, It's because I was young and stoopind when I gave it a 4.5. So there.
Supreme Commander
Pretty sucky for an RTS. Yeah, the giant guys you can build are fun, but the resources suck, and the fact that you have to hang on to villies from the early stages just to build basic buildings does too. It's unique, sure, but if it sucks, uniqueness hardly counts for anything. A 2.1 game.
Rise of Legends
A cool RTS, doesn't get boring, but there are too few factions and units. I like how you get 9 little guys for ordering just once, and that entire group is a unit, because it makes the battles look more epic, but Districts can get slightly confusing and so can capturing third-party buildings. But still fun. Probably about a 6.1.
Little Big Planet
I'm addicted to this game. I've only played 2 player, as I've only played it at my friend's house. But I can see it getting boring if it goes on for too long. Some of the parts of the game make you try and try again, and they can get a little annoying. But really good otherwise. A 9.1. I'm not so crazy about it at the moment because I'm really tired. But an awesome game for kids, usually below 13. I'd say a nice time 2 play is at age 11. Note: Multiplayer is really well done, as in it's not a totally different game. It's really the same. Special thank-you to my friend Shrub, whose' name has been censored
Sims 2
Lot o' fun, but load times take an eternity. And the expansions are hard to use. And the game assumes you know how to do things. There should be an interactive tutorial about parenting and how to use the expansions. Trial and error works 4 this, but combined with the load times it becomes a tedious task. Though, this game is extremely unique, and is pretty good, so that gets it extra marks. And it virtually never gets boring, as you can do so much. 9.3 without loading times, 8 with loading times.
Age Of Mythology
This is probably the last RTS you'll ever need if you buy it. Ok graphics, very hard resource management (maybe a little too much), fun, good relevance to real mythology, awesome units... It's a really good game. Actually, AOM isn't the best until you add the kind of cherry-on-top to it. AOMG is wickedly totally awesomely kool! Better units, more gods to worship, another campaign... And finally, the ULTIMATE UNIT! A TITAN! Actually, a Titan is the second best. The best is either Prometheus or Gaia, but vs. myth units, Arkantos (God) is in there too.
Out o" ten, I'd rate this game a... 9.6. Yes, it was great, and the race difference is pretty cool, and then there's the cheats... But I had a problem or two with this game. The campaign had some really bad levels, and eventually single player gets boring.
Trauma Centre; under the knife
Damn good game. Probably my favourite of the trauma centres. But oh my god, couldn't have they made the magnification just even slightly competent? I mean, this game is amazing, but some of the operations piss me off so damn much because of the stupid magnification errors. 8/10, though it would be 9/10 without the magnification action
Total war: Eras
I can rate these games all in one 'cuz they're all the same 3.6. Fun at first, boring after a while, and like one of my dad's lectures later. Battles are fun when customized, campaign pretty fun by itself, but both get boring easily.
Quantum Of Solace
Not great. The fact that it's James bond makes it fun,, but it's like the legend of zelda; Windwaker. You have to examine too much terrain to get to the action. A 4.3
War of the Ring; Conquest
This game was not good. Archers didn't have to aim, and didn't get a blade, Warriors had constant stupid defects, not to mention being horrible against anything that can block. The mages are decent, But their fire attack stinks, and shockwave takes too long to reload. It is definetly apparent throughout the internet, and as well as my opinion, that the scouts are the best part of this game. I just wish that their bombs would reload faster. But as I said, this game was not Good. Now that I look back on it, it also has Minis Tirith, which is really hard. So it actually sucks. A 2.1, that is subject to change, as I have not tried multiplayer yet. Oh wait, make that a 1.7 because instant action is hard and obnoxious. The rating 1.7 is subject to change

Extremely dissapointing. I've played better games, but what made it really disappointing was its big countdown. 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... Alright! Now we can play a decent-graphics platformer! YAAY! Sorry miniclip, but this game does not come close to cutting it. With its countdown, a 2.6/10. Without the countdown, a 4.76/10
